The Seven Credenda Agenda
7 Things to be Believed…7 Things to be Achieved
As a church, East Point Church seeks to provide pastoral leadership through: instruction, training, guidance, teaching, and encouragement in order to foster unity in the church and growth in the Christian life. To this end, here is a brief summary of seven truths each member is expected to believe and seven goals each member is expected to be striving to achieve.
We realize that these points are in no way exhaustive of the theology and practices of this or any other church. They are merely a summary of the core beliefs and practices of what we believe the Bible to teach concerning union with the local church.
We, as members of East Point Church, believe:
1. The Bible is the inspired and inerrant Word of God; and it is the only infallible rule for life, faith, and conduct (2Tim. 3:16)
2. There is only one God revealed in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (Matt. 28:19; 2Cor. 13:14)
3. The full deity and full humanity Jesus Christ as the eternal and unique Son of God – that he died, was buried, and raised on the third day according to the Scriptures (Jn. 1:1; Col. 1:15-19; 1Cor. 15:1-4)
4. Salvation from sin and death is through faith alone in Jesus Christ alone (Rom. 3:26; Eph. 2:8)
5. The church is all those united to Jesus by grace through faith (Eph. 3:6)
6. The return of Christ will be a literal, physical, visible, bodily, yet future return (1Thes. 4:16-18).
7. The two sacraments given by Christ to the church are baptism and the Lord’s Supper (Matt. 28:19; 1Cor. 11:23-26).
We, as members of East Point Church, seek to achieve:
1. To be involved in the life of the church, attending services, giving attention to the preached word and the participation in the sacraments (Acts 2:42; Heb 10:25).
2. To be a growing Christian through regular Bible study, daily meditation and prayer, evangelism, and fellowship (Col. 1:9-10).
3. To willingly submit to the counsel and authority of the church leadership in Christ (Heb. 13:7).
4. To be in fellowship with and willing submission to other members of East Point Church (Eph. 4:19-21).
5. To be regularly giving of my time and financial resources for the furtherance and care of the gospel ministry at East Point Church (2Cor. 9:6-12).
6. To be in basic agreement with the basic doctrines, vision, goals, and ministry targets of East Point Church (1Cor. 1:10; Phil 2:2)
7. To be used of God to reach out to the ends of the world with the gospel in whatever occupation God calls me (1Cor. 10:31).
In signing this document, you do declare your agreement with the above statements and do commit to fulfilling them to the best of your strength and understanding. East Point Church commits to walking with you in the fellowship around and the accomplishment of these statements for the glory of Christ and the good of his church.
